The Administration of Criminal Justice Academy (ACJA) National Moot Competition is a flagship initiative of the Centre. As a premier national advocacy tournament, it is meticulously designed to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and the complexities of the Nigerian legal system, advancing clinical legal education and enhancing criminal justice practice.

Purpose and Goals The following core objectives drive the competition:

  • Deepening Legal Knowledge: To facilitate an in-depth understanding of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015 and state-level administration of criminal justice laws among law students and emerging legal practitioners.
  • Skill Development: To sharpen analytical research, persuasive writing, and oral advocacy skills—essential competencies for a successful career in law.
  • Professional Ethics: To instill in participants a strong foundation in legal ethics, courtroom etiquette, and professional conduct.
  • Talent Identification: To identify high-potential law students and young lawyers for the purpose of providing career mentorship, professional growth, and networking opportunities.

Impact and Opportunities
Beyond the competitive experience, the ACJA National Moot Competition serves as a launchpad for professional advancement. A significant feature of this initiative is the provision of internship opportunities for participants with leading firms and organizations actively involved in the administration of criminal justice. This ensures that the brightest legal minds are directly connected with the institutions shaping the future of the Nigerian justice sector.
